Overview

Chades Tapsilog is a favored takeout spot nestled in the heart of Santa Cruz, Manila. Known primarily for its tapsilog and lechonsilog dishes, this restaurant serves up classic Filipino comfort food that hits the mark for those craving authentic flavors. Its location on Alvarez Street makes it accessible for locals seeking a quick yet satisfying meal.

The menu's spotlight is undoubtedly on tapsilog, a meal that blends savory tapa, garlic rice, and a perfectly cooked egg. Each component complements the other, creating a harmony of textures and tastes that Filipino cuisine is celebrated for. The lechon silog also garners high praise, with many customers highlighting the well-seasoned pork and the flavorful fried rice that accompanies it. Beyond the mains, the soup and side dishes add warmth and depth to the overall dining experience.

Dining at Chades Tapsilog is a dynamic experience. The space is compact and often bustling, reflecting the popularity of the spot. Seating is limited, and finding a table can feel competitive, especially during peak hours. This chaotic yet lively setting adds character but may not be ideal for those seeking a quiet meal. The restaurant caters well to budget-conscious diners and anyone looking for a hearty Filipino meal without breaking the bank.

Despite its small size and no-frills ambiance, the staff maintains a friendly and attentive service, contributing to a cozy atmosphere. The establishment also offers facilities like free motorcycle parking, which is a thoughtful convenience for many patrons. While the discount for seniors and PWD is lesser than expected, it still shows an effort to accommodate all customers.

In essence, Chades Tapsilog shines by delivering flavorful, authentic Filipino meals centered around tapsilog and its variants. Its appeal lies in the balance of taste, portion size, and affordability, making it a go-to spot for local workers, students, and anyone appreciating traditional Filipino flavors served in a lively, bustling environment.

The best-seller here is the Lechon Silog. But the other meals are good as well. The fried rice and soup are delicious. Their silog meal is best partnered with kamatis with bagoong (tomato with shrimp paste). Dining here is usually the problem because it's not on a first come, first served basis. It's like a game "Trip to Jerusalem." If you see someone about to finish eating, you must prepare yourself to rush on his/her table. In other words PAUNAHAN and sariling diskarte ang pagkuha ng table dito. The place is always packed with a lot of people. They also have a free parking for motorcycle only. No free-wifi They offer discount for senior/PWD but they don't follow the 20% discount. I think 5% discount only.

It's all about the rice. I dunno what mix it is, but you can't have just one. Lechonsilog and Chiksilog are your best choices. Soup's also great. More than makes up for the chaotic ambience. 120 per head sounds like a good start.
